A taste of bitter

"Mauka created the berries and fruits of the forest after he was taken aback by the bitter taste of a lingonberry and much to his horror, he dropped all of his berries and fruits into the forest below. He rummaged and searched, creating small channels for rivers and throwing rocks aside, creating large clusters of rocks. However he was unable to find his treats and they were left there on the forest floor to propagate and grow. Today one can easily find many berries and fruits in the forests thanks to Mauka's little accident, which made him the deity of taste and forest produce. However, later he willed the lingonberry to be red and the bilberry to be blue to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake of expecting the sweet taste of a bilberry and instead being surprised by the bitterness of a lingonberry."
