Mausoleum shade

"Shades are beings that lean towards being indifferent to their surroundings. They are beings who have been afflicted by Rockscale, which is a disease that slowly petrifies ones scales. This is a disease that is often associated with "dying from old age" and it is common in dragonoids who live an exceptionally long life. Not everyone inflicted with Rockscale becomes a shade and the process is gradual, but those who do will find their minds become petrified all the same as their bodies. Incapable of taking in new information and then shedding memories from new to the oldest. Oftentimes the shading of ones self becomes most severe after their false death. A period where they appear to die, only to wake after weeks, months sometimes even years, their bodies crumbled and decayed from the time spent dead. In places where dead are lain to rest one might find a shade trying to fix a rusted blade or tending to the withered plants left within their tomb, unaware of their condition.

Despite it all, as long as one does not bring attention to their shaded state, shades can and will hold conversations, especially if the topic relates to something they were passionate about when they were alive. And they will derive great pleasure from discussing these topics. Some can turn into great fonts of wisdom once engaged in these discourses.

"What has happened to my babies? All smashed...dried...dead... Not to worry, little one, you will still flourish under my care."
