Spring thaw

"During the winter, most of the amalgamate hide underground where it will remain in semi-hibernation. In evergreen forests, it makes very little effort to hide its presence and the tunnels it creates, the dead trees whose roots have been consumed by them are a dead giveaway of their hives.

However this behavior is not constant, and albeit rare, some of the amalgamate remain active even during extreme cold. Thanks to that, the researches formerly posted here now have far more indepth knowledge about the amalgamate than what they would have ever wanted."
